Ms. Ashley Leland

Director of Chorus

Jupiter Middle School

Ashley Leland is a native of Palm Beach County and the proud daughter of two fantastic choral directors, Scott Leland & Jerri Goffe. She attended Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. School of the Arts, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a certificate in Gender Studies at Florida Atlantic University, and has just completed her Masters of Music Education at Westminster Choir College. Her research project, Empowering Students for Vocal Independence, focused on empowering the changing adolescent female voice.
Ashley is the director of chorus, keyboard and harp at Jupiter Middle School in Jupiter, Florida. She is currently in her eighth year of teaching, and her fifth year at JMS. Jupiter Middle School’s choral ensembles consistently earn Superior ratings at District assessment, and they are active in performance around their community. They also attend yearly competitions in New York City.
Ashley is an active member of ACDA and FVA, and is currently serving as District Chair for District 14 of the Florida Vocal Association. In 2014, she was honored to be the director for the Palm Beach County Elementary Honor Chorus.
In addition to her work as a choral director, Ashley works as a professional choral singer in the choir of The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach. She also continues to gig as a harpist and horn player around Palm Beach County. She has performed under the baton of Joe Miller, Joseph Flummerfelt, Gerard Schwarz, and Frederick Fennell. She has studied choral conducting with James Jordan, Joe Miller, Charles Bruffy, Vance George, and Simon Carrington. Ashley has sung with Palm Beach Opera and the National Symphony.
Ashley currently resides in Palm Beach Gardens with her best friend and two very lazy cats. She loves to read, travel, and watch reruns of The West Wing.
